Letter From The Editor/Publisher

June is here and that means a lot to us Floridians. First of all, it means the HEAT is here to stay for at least the next 4-5 months with no forgiveness. When riding, be sure to drink lots of water, stop when the rain gets too hard to see (it will pass in a few mins) and take it easy on wet roads. BUGS…. Big hurtful bugs that like to bounce off your body and head while riding. Love bugs, beetles, bees, wasps, crickets….. You name it, they hurt when you hit them going 60mph. Also, it’s the beginning of Hurricane season, like I need to tell anyone. We don’t normally see big storms in June or July; they usually come in August or September. Be safe everyone and watch out for your fellow riders. Be courteous and help others, this world is getting crazy.

The new LAW that starts July 1st is very strict on Speeding on the streets. The legislation (HB 351) targets so-called “super speeders,” establishing criminal consequences for motorists who exceed the posted speed limit by 50 miles per hour or more, or who drive at 100 mph or more in a manner that threatens others or interferes with vehicle operation. Please be careful out there while riding, there is a time and a place for speeding and aggressive riding, and that’s on the track. Ride safe and ride smart and always remember, LANE SPLITTING OR LANE FILTERING is illegal here in the state of Florida.

The Full Throttle Annual 5 Bridge Poker Run is this month on Saturday June 28th. It starts at Moramoto on Hillsborough Ave. with registration from 10 am till 12noon. This ride goes over the 5 major bridges that connect the Tampa Bay Area. Those bridges are: Bayside, Howard Frankland, Courtney Campbell, Gandy & Skyway. We end at the Ellington Winghouse and in the past, they had a bikini bike wash that day. The past few years we have had some great pay outs for the winners with the best hand taking $500-$600 each year! We base the payouts on how many riders there are, and the cash collected at the registration. Moramoto might also throw in some prizes for the best hand also! We hope we can get a great turn out on this ride, and we are hoping for 100-200 poker hands, that will make for some great cash payouts to the top three hands and worst hand. We are also working with BAY AREA RIDERS this year and we are very excited. This ride is also sponsored by Fran Haasch Law Group. Now let’s hope for some good weather that day! See you all on the bridges!

If you haven’t been out at Tampa Joe’s on Tuesday night you are missing gout on one of the best weekly bike nights in the area. This bike night has over 300 bikes every Tuesday night and it is a lot of fun. They have a championship belt that the winner gets a picture with when they win the slow races and they have a wonderful DJ blasting great music all night long. If you haven’t been, come out for a great time every Tuesday night from 7pm till 10pm.
